2024 INITIATIVES

While the Coconut Grove Arts Festival® may last only three days, its commitment to promoting arts education in South Florida has always been a year-long venture.

For 60 years, the mission of the Coconut Grove Arts & Historical Association has been to nurture a future generation of artists. Proceeds from the Coconut Grove Arts Festival help to fund our year-round programs, create a positive impact on our community and touch the lives of many throughout the year.

EMERGING ARTISTS PROGRAM›

Our goal is to give this next generation of Artists the foundation they need to begin their art show careers after completing the second year.

PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

New World School of the Arts is South Florida’s signature arts magnet high school. Created by by the Florida Legislature in 1984 as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts, the school is currently an educational partnership of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida. Since 1990 the Coconut Grove Arts & Historical Association has provided a prominent booth space inside the annual Arts Festival so that the school’s talented students may showcase and sell their work – free of charge. Priced at $100 to Arts Festival patrons, profits of each piece sold are split in half between the student and the school. The partnership, developed by New World School of the Arts teacher Jim Hunter, is the one of the high school’s largest fundraisers having raised nearly a $100,000 to date.
