OCTOBER 15, 2023 – With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality management field and his prior role with Jungle Island as General Manager, as well as his outstanding service to the Coconut Grove Arts Festival (CGAF) as a long-standing Member of the Board of Directors, it comes no surprise that Jungle Island and Joia Beach wisely chose to promote from within, naming Curtis Crider to the esteemed position of Chairman.
As Curtis navigated through the re-launching of Jungle Island, his strong leadership skills allowed one of South Florida’s favorite landmarks to open its doors again to the public in the fall of 2022. Building upon a rich tradition that began in 1936, Jungle Island takes guests on an epic journey through nature, animal discovery, and new adventures.
With thrilling amenities such as Treetop Trekking Ariel Ropes Course, Tree-walk Village and playground, event spaces, and the signature Bloom Ballroom, the 18-acre park is truly Miami’s most popular destination for adventures and events. From behind-the-scenes VIP tours to unforgettable interactions with some of the world’s most fascinating animals, Jungle Island offers visitors a variety of real-life jungle experiences.
The Chair of CGAF Michelle Barton King shares, “Curtis is a remarkable gentleman and an esteemed professional who possesses an innate ability to face challenges with ease. We are so proud of Curtis’s success and know that his leadership will continue to draw attention to this iconic attraction.”
Attracting global attention is certainly something that Crider is very familiar with. Whether through his work on the Board of CGAF that remains crucial to the continued success of the world-renowned Coconut Grove Arts Festival or through his new position as Chairman in this outstanding world-famous uniquely-Miami attraction, Crider knows how to conduct himself with composure in the spotlight. King concludes, “Jungle Island could not have picked a better person for this role. All of us who serve the Coconut Grove Arts Festival are thrilled for Curtis and remain proud of his continued success.”
Jungle Island is also home to one of Miami’s most popular restaurants, Joia Beach, a hidden enclave in the heart of Miami, designed as a vibrant restaurant and oasis where the bright lights and beat of the city meet the elements and beauty of Nature, where guests can indulge, relax, and experience the magic.
